The town of Cordova is situated on Orca Inlet in Prince William Sound, and nestled below the Chugach Mountains.

There are lots of out-door options that don’t require a car.

  • Hike up the ski hill (the lower slopes of Mt. Eyak) behind town for a quick work-out and great views across the Sound.
  • Walk along the shore of Lake Eyak to enjoy the Trumpeter Swans and waterfowl. Most frequently seen species include Bufflehead, Common Merganser, Common and Barrow’s Goldeneye, and Greater Scaup….with a potential Tufted Duck.
  • Stroll along the Breakwater Trail, Orca Road, or Odiak Slough for great Blue Heron, Long-tailed Ducks, Scoters and loons (including a possible Yellow-billed Loon).
  • Pacific Wrens are commonly seen on walks through town along the forest edge.

Cordova also offers a great selection of indoor activities that include:
